Slim Dubois as special guest of Brian and the Bluestorm's show at Club Dix30 on Tuesday September 9, 2014.

Piano virtuoso Sébastien Dubois grew up in a family of music lovers. His passion for the piano was bequeathed to him by his father. From the age of 5, Sébastien received a classical training while having fun in rock to finally find satisfaction in Blues, Rock & Roll, Boogie Woogie and R&B thereby becoming “Slim”.

His debut on the Montreal blues scene took place in 2002 with the Kevin Mark band. He also had the opportunity to perform with several other artists such as Bharath and the Rhythm Four, Rick L. Blues, Dale Boyle, Pat Loiselle, Blues Berry Jam, Stephen Barry, Kenny Dupree and many others. You can also hear it on recent records by the first three artists. These experiences have allowed him to perform on several Quebec stages such as the Montreal Jazz Festival, the Tremblant Blues Festival, but also across Canada, in the United States (Red Bank Blues & Jazz Festival) and in Europe. (Blues sur Seine Festival, France). All of these performances earned him nominations in the Musical Performance category in 2005 and in the Blues Artist category in 2006 at the Lys Blues gala. He also won the grand prize in the Montreal FestiBlues’ young talent competition which took him on tour in France in the fall of 2008.

Over time, he has deepened his knowledge of blues piano masters such as Otis Spann, Pete Johnson, Charles Brown, Ray Charles, etc. While traveling through the ages, it is through his performances that he succeeds in conveying the soul of this music to the public. Today he offers us his own style which is indeed an authentic blues but which continues to surprise us from one evening to the next.

Do not miss!
